Wild ponies still roam free on this part of the Outer Banks (OBX) beach reachable only with a 4-wheel drive vehicle or boat.

The Carova (Carolina near Virginia)/Corolla, NC area is a great place to cool your heals in the summer, and its mild climate makes it a delightful year-round place to have an adventure and get away from it all. Breakfast out on the back deck as the morning sun rises, or put up your feet and relax with a good book. In the cooler seasons the wood-burning stove will take the chill out and and adds to the charm of this rustic home.

With the choice of 2 kayaks (manned by one or two people), 2 canoes and a rowboat, you have a ton of options: explore the coast or canals, fish, crab, or just head out for fun with family and friends. The house sits on the corner of Currituck Sound and a canal, providing sheltered water for swimming or for boating novices. Just feel like relaxing? Dangle your feet in the water off the dock, fly a kite, toss a ball or Frisbee around in the spacious yard… or just sit back and savor a sunset over Knott’s Island (about 1 mile away in the bay).

The ocean is only ½ mile away; you can hike to the beach or load your off-road vehicle up with food, drink and toys and hang out on the beach. Where the waters meet the land the wildlife is in abundant - so grab the binoculars and keep an eye out!
